About bathroom renovation

A full bathroom renovation is a complete rebuild of the room from the studwork or brickwork outward, rather than a straight swap of fixtures, and it's the right service when the layout needs to change, the floor or walls behind the tiles are in poor condition, or the pipework itself needs replacing. It suits homes across Romford and the wider Havering area where the bathroom hasn't been touched in decades, or where you're moving the toilet, adding a shower where a bath used to be, or combining a bathroom and box room into one larger space.

The work starts with design: agreeing the layout, the fittings, and how the finished room will look before anything is disconnected. Strip-out follows, taking the old suite, tiles and boarding back to brick or blockwork so we can see the condition of the floor and walls underneath. First-fix pipework then goes in for the new layout, followed by plastering or boarding the walls and ceiling ready for tiling.

Tiling comes next, then second fix: fitting the new suite, taps, shower valve and any furniture, and sealing all the joints. How long the room is out of action depends on the scope of the job; a full strip-out with plastering and tiling naturally takes longer to dry out and finish than a lighter refit, and we'll talk through a realistic schedule with you before work starts, particularly if it's your only bathroom.

Any new sockets, an extractor fan, or shaver points are notifiable electrical work under Part P, so we coordinate with a qualified electrician to handle that side while we manage the plumbing, tiling and sequencing of trades.

  • “Dan came promptly, told me what needed doing and seemed competitive against other quotes. We landed a date and he arrived on time. His (and Mitch’s) tidyness and respect were brilliant. I have them coming back to do another job as happy with first.”

Bathroom Renovation questions

Clear answers to your most common plumbing concerns.

Do you cover tiling and electrics?
Yes, we provide a complete turnkey service including all trades.
Can I stay living in the house during a full renovation?
Most people do, though if it's your only bathroom you'll be without one for part of the job. We sequence the work to keep that period as short as possible and will talk through the schedule with you before starting, so you can plan around it.
Do you help with choosing tiles and fittings, or do I need to source everything myself?
We're happy to advise on layout, practicality and what will work well together, and can point you toward suppliers, but the choice and purchase of tiles and fittings is yours. You're also welcome to supply items you've already bought for us to fit.
What happens if you find a problem once the strip-out starts?
It's common to find something behind old tiling that wasn't visible before, such as damp timber or old pipework. We'll stop, show you what we've found, and agree how to deal with it before continuing, rather than pressing on and dealing with it later.
Will I need building control sign-off for a bathroom renovation?
Plumbing and tiling work in a bathroom doesn't generally need separate building control approval. Anything notifiable, such as certain electrical work, is handled by the qualified electrician we coordinate with, who deals with the relevant certification for their part of the job.
Can you move the toilet to a different wall?
Yes, though it means running new waste pipework to reach the soil stack, which is more involved than a like-for-like swap. We'll look at where the stack is and how the waste needs to fall before confirming it's practical in your layout.
