Romford is our home base, and bathroom renovations are the biggest part of our work here: full rebuilds from strip-out and new pipework to tiling and fitting the new suite, across the Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the market and South Street, the interwar semis further out, and the flats near the station.

Each type of house brings its own renovation questions. Victorian terraces often have the bathroom at the back, over or in the rear extension, with suspended timber floors and older waste runs; interwar semis commonly still have a separate toilet next to a small bathroom and a loft tank feeding the hot water; and in flats, the work has to be planned around neighbours below and the building's shared soil stack.

What's Different in Romford Homes

  • Many interwar Romford semis have a separate WC beside a small bathroom, and knocking the two into one larger room is one of the most common layout changes we make.
  • Victorian terraces often have the bathroom in the rear addition, where suspended timber floors need checking and sometimes strengthening before a heavy bath or stone-effect tiles go down.
  • Houses still on a loft tank and gravity cylinder can have weak shower pressure, so a renovation is often the moment to move to a combi or unvented cylinder.
  • In flats, the toilet position is usually fixed by the shared soil stack, and noisy work may need agreeing with the building manager.
  • Hard water across Havering means thermostatic shower valves and taps are worth choosing with serviceable cartridges, and we fit them so they can be reached later.

"Dan and Mitch fixed a leak in my shower fitting. They did a brilliant job and I couldn’t be more pleased. They took their time and ensured that everything was correctly measured and hence, the end result is very pleasing to the eye. It is obvious that Dan is an excellent plumber. It transpired that the shower had not been fitted properly in the first place; Dan explained the problem, and sorted it. They are very friendly, competent and efficient. I can recommend them without the slightest hesitation."

Bathroom Renovation in Romford: Questions

Clear answers to your most common plumbing concerns.

Can you combine the separate toilet and bathroom in our 1930s Romford semi?
Usually, yes. It means taking out the dividing wall (we check first whether it's load-bearing), re-routing the toilet waste to the soil stack, and replanning the room. The result is normally a much more usable bathroom, often with room for a separate shower as well as a bath.
Our shower is weak because we still have a tank in the loft. Can that be fixed during the renovation?
Yes. The options are a combi boiler, which gives mains-pressure hot water on demand, or a system boiler with an unvented cylinder fitted by a G3-qualified engineer, which suits houses with more than one bathroom. We check your incoming mains flow before recommending either.
Do you renovate bathrooms in Romford flats?
Yes. In a flat we plan around the shared soil stack, protect the flat below from leaks during the work, and check whether the lease or building manager needs notice before noisy work or deliveries. Most flats in newer blocks near the station already have a pressurised hot water system, which gives more freedom with shower choice.
Who does the electrics in a bathroom renovation?
New sockets, extractor fans, lighting circuits and shaver points in a bathroom are notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations, so we coordinate with a qualified electrician who certifies that part of the job.
