DJ's Plumbing Services is based in Romford and runs a 24/7 emergency plumbing service across the town, from the Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the market and South Street to the interwar semis further out and the newer flats near the station. If water is escaping, call 07502 225764 and turn off the stopcock while you wait.

Most of Romford's emergencies are burst pipes, leaks under sinks and baths, and overflowing loft tanks in the interwar semis that still run a gravity-fed system. In flats, a leak is also a problem for the neighbours below, and many newer flats have pressurised or unvented hot water systems that need a G3-qualified engineer.

What's Different in Romford Homes

  • Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the town centre often have suspended timber floors, where a leak can run a long way before it shows, and the stopcock may be under the floor near the front door.
  • Interwar semis across Romford commonly still have a loft tank feeding a gravity cylinder; a sticking float valve can overflow it.
  • In flats, water from a leak can reach the flat below quickly, so isolate your supply straight away and let your neighbours and building management know.
  • Newer flats near the station often have unvented cylinders, where hot water running from the discharge pipe is a sign of a safety valve fault.
  • The stop tap under a cover in the pavement belongs to the water company; the stopcock inside the property is the one to use in an emergency.

How the Job Runs

  1. 1Confirm the water supply is fully isolated at the stopcock
  2. 2Check for electrical risk near the affected area
  3. 3Trace the leak back to its source rather than the visible drip
  4. 4Isolate the affected section using service valves where fitted
  5. 5Carry out a temporary or permanent repair depending on access
  6. 6Test the repair under normal running pressure
  7. 7Advise on any drying out or follow-up work needed

Emergency Plumber in Romford: Questions

Clear answers to your most common plumbing concerns.

Can you come out the same day in Romford?
For a genuine emergency, like an active leak, a burst pipe or water coming through a ceiling, we run a 24/7 service and aim to get to you the same day. Non-urgent repairs are booked into the soonest available slot.
Water from my flat is leaking into the flat below. What should I do?
Turn off your stopcock straight away, then switch off the electrics for any area near the water. Let your neighbour and your building manager or landlord know, since the leak may need access to both flats. If the water keeps coming after your supply is off, the source may be in a shared pipe or another flat, which the building manager needs to arrange access to.
Is a leak on the pipe outside my house my responsibility?
It depends where it is. In general, the water company is responsible for the pipe up to the boundary of your property, and you're responsible for the supply pipe from the boundary into the house. If water is bubbling up in the pavement, report it to your water company; if it's inside your boundary or in the house, we can find and repair it.
Do you deal with gas leaks?
No. If you smell gas, leave the property, don't use light switches or anything that could spark, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from outside. Once the gas network has made it safe, a Gas Safe registered engineer can repair the appliance or pipework.
