About kitchen plumbing

Kitchen plumbing covers everything from fitting a new sink and tap to connecting dishwashers, washing machines and integrated appliances, and it's the service you need whether you're refreshing a single fitting or plumbing in an entirely new kitchen. We take on kitchen plumbing jobs throughout Romford and the wider Havering area, often alongside a wider kitchen fit-out but just as often as a standalone repair or upgrade.

For sinks and taps, we isolate the supply, remove the old fitting, and fit the new sink and tap into the worktop cut-out, resealing around the edges to keep water out of the cabinet below. Whether the new sink matches the old hole pattern or needs a different configuration, such as moving from a single tap hole to a sink with an integrated waste disposal switch, changes how much work is involved, and we'll confirm that before quoting so there are no surprises on the day.

Dishwashers and washing machines each need a supply connection, usually cold only on modern machines, and a proper waste connection through a trap fitted with a non-return valve, which stops dirty waste water siphoning back into the appliance. Integrated appliances are plumbed in behind cabinetry, so we make sure the isolation valves stay accessible in case the appliance ever needs to come out again.

If you're having cupboards fitted around the same time, it helps to have the space under the sink fully cleared before we arrive so we can get straight to the connections without working around stored items.

Kitchen Plumbing questions

Clear answers to your most common plumbing concerns.

Can you install my new dishwasher?
Yes, we provide full appliance installation and plumbing connection services.
Do washing machines need both a hot and cold connection?
Most modern washing machines only need a cold supply and heat the water themselves, so that's what we connect unless your specific machine is designed to take hot water as well. We'll check the manufacturer's instructions for your model before connecting it.
What is a non-return valve and why does my dishwasher need one?
It's a small one-way valve fitted on the waste connection that stops dirty water from the sink or drain siphoning back into the dishwasher. Without one, waste water can find its way back into the machine, which is why it's fitted as standard on appliance connections.
Can you plumb in an integrated fridge with a water or ice dispenser?
Yes, this needs a dedicated cold water feed run to the appliance, usually taken off the nearest suitable supply pipe with its own isolation valve. We'll route it discreetly behind the cabinetry so it's accessible if the appliance ever needs disconnecting.
My kitchen sink drains slowly, is that worth calling a plumber for?
Yes, a slow-draining sink is usually a partial blockage or a waste run that isn't falling correctly, and it tends to get worse rather than resolve itself on its own. It's worth having looked at before it blocks completely or starts smelling unpleasantly in the kitchen.
Can you fit a new sink if I'm having the whole worktop replaced?
Yes, we can fit the sink and tap once the new worktop is in place, cutting or confirming the aperture as needed and resealing around the edges. It's worth coordinating timing with your worktop fitter so the cut-out matches the sink you've chosen.
